Vanity Fair, Italia
Also from the archives--Vanity Fair Italy. Next to Terry Gilliam, across the page from Jason Reitman and Milos Forman. Needless to say, flattered to be included in the mix.

Variety mentions Mamachas as a doc to look out for at Slamdance!
In the midst of the last of my very last preparations for Slamdance before I hop on a flight tomorrow AM (and somehow they don't all seem to feel like they are as "last-ish" as they should be, but I digress...) this came in on the google:
"The documentary section, where "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" unspooled, has already generated interest: Anticipation is swirling around Yony Leyser's "William Burroughs: A Man Within," and Baxter singles out "Mamachas del Ring," which examines the lives of Bolivian female wrestlers."
Thank you PB for the shout out!
Telegraph 21 features Mamachas del Ring
Telegraph21.com, a great new site focusing on documentaries, spotlights Mamachas del Ring today. I'm honored to be in such great company, as the docs they've chosen are all captivating (Crude, P-Star Rising, Garbage Dreams are among the recent features).
Check out the feature, become a T21 facebook fan, and follow them on twitter-- (Can you tell I'm rooting for them?)

Thanks to Kenneth Turan, LA Times film critic, for the shout out...
In an article that focuses on the state of the Sundance Film Festival, KT shouts out Mamachas as a doc to look for in the Slamdance fest.
"Not in Sundance at all but playing at the rival Slamdance Film Festival is "Mamachas del Ring," a bittersweet excursion to the world of Carmen Rosa, a feisty Aymara Indian professional wrestler from Bolivia who enters the ring in full skirts and petticoats but finds that her toughest battles are against society and her husband."
